After Stonehenge we moved on to Glastonbury and the famous Tor. This was much more impressive. The view is truly spectacular. I feels like you can see forever. I loved it.
Its not very often you get to visit a place that feels properly special. Glastonbury Tor felt special (to me at least). I’m glad I included this on the list it was well worth the visit.
I bet you thought I had forgotten about this nonsense? ha, you’d be wrong. Here is the first of my random updates to THE LIST.
This week we headed south for a few days and I accomplished my first task. I visited a henge. Specifically that big stone one that everyone is always going on about. Ever since I read The Age of Misrule by Mark Chadbourn I have been filled with the urge to visit as many sites like this in the UK as I possibly can. Behold!!
I’ll be honest, I’m sad to say, I was a little underwhelmed. I think I had built it up so much in my head. I think it may have been lacking the sense of awe I was hoping for. Don’t get me wrong Stonehenge is phenomenal feat of neolithic engineering but there is a road running right next to it. That and the hundreds of other tourists didn’t help. There were lots of helicopters as well…ok, I’ll admit it the helicopters were kinda cool.
I sense another item will be getting struck off THE LIST soon. Stick around.
During one of my more memorable daydreams I had a bit of an idea. It went something like this – before I hit my fortieth *gulps* birthday I would attempt to do forty things I’ve never done before. I also thought that it might be fun to try and document these adventures and share them with the world. A couple of months after that initial light-bulb moment and I’ve finally got around to doing something about it. Welcome to Pablo Does 40 Things.
From the 24th July 2013 until 24th July 2014 I’m going to be doing a whole series of challenges. These exist on a document that I will henceforth refer to as THE LIST (Please note that THE LIST is so important it must always be written in CAPS. Never forget that!) You can find details of THE LIST on it’s very own page.
Currently I’m in the midst of figuring out the logistics for all of these tasks (I have a mighty spreadsheet of organisation. It doesn’t get CAPS. It’s only a spreadsheet) but please check back again soon. I imagine things will probably be undertaken in the usual, reasonably random order that I do things. Certainly if the rest of my life is anything to go by this is exactly what will happen. What I will promise is that I’ll post as many updates as time will allow. I want to keep you all up to date, part of the challenge I suppose
I should add the one caveat is that THE LIST may change due to unforeseen circumstances (but I’ll try to avoid that if I can).
Who knows how this is going to turn out? Currently your guess is as good as mine. It’s going to be an interesting year, I may even surprise myself.
Danger, excitement, thrills and spills?…probably not, but you never know.
RIGHT, LETS DO THIS!
